CHANGING GIRLS' LIVES

Girls Academic Leadership Academy was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Hicks in 2016. She fought to bring an all-girls PUBLIC school model to LAUSD for over 3 years and her passion for providing a world class STEM education for girls led her to the creation of GALA.

2020 recipient

The first Dr. Liz Hicks GALA Founder Scholarship Award Winner was Vivien from the Class of 2020. She started GALA in its inaugural year, 2016 in 9th grade and graduated in 2020 as GALA's first valedictorian. As the all-school President, she inhabits the GALA values of Excellence, Leadership, Wellness, and Honor.
