GIRLS' LIVES

Girls Academic Leadership Academy was founded by Dr. Elizabeth Hicks in 2016. She fought to bring an all-girls PUBLIC school model to LAUSD for over 3 years and her passion for providing a world class STEM education for girls led her to the creation of GALA.

2021 recipient

The second Dr. Liz Hicks GALA Founder Scholarship Award Winner was Kennedy Taylor from the Class of 2021. As the all-school President, Athlete, and high achieving academic scholar she inhabits the GALA values of Excellence, Leadership, Wellness, and Honor. She will be attending UCLA this fall 2021. Congratulations to Kennedy and her family.
